Not as bust today but still really full. Lack of crowds gives opportunity to see something that I thought had died out with shoulder pads and check suits – stand girls.
In my first events in the late 80s no exhibition was complete without the sight of scantily clad girls draping themselves around machine tools in order to entice middle aged male prospective buyer. Sad really but must have worked as everyone seemed to do it especially at computer aided manufacturing shows.

Never fancied them really which is funny sine they are there for my delectation. Experience was that sight of stand girls gave tossers a green light o abuse your female staff. Outrage by proxy but at least made you look good as you gentlemanly protected them. And shagged them later in some cases. Note to daughters: men are full of shit really.

Surprised at stand girls here given that it’s oh so late noughties and we don’t do that thing any more. Just look firms’ HR policies (fair play) and advertising with smiling business woman at airport with laptop. Bollocks I know but at least it’s better than the old days.

Stand out stand girls are from one Ad software cos - girls just looked bored in their t-shirt and distressed denim mini combo – and one Swedish phone company whose ladies are in doctors’ white uniforms with high hem line affording view of long Swedish leg. Visited this lot 2 years ago I their state of the art designer offices for their designer phone. Didn’t quiet see them as engineering firm in Birmingham circa 1988 but there you go about generalisations…
